Caring for your jewellery
Thoroughly.
Your jewellery is precious.
Here are some tips on how to take care of it.

Avoid all contact with fresh or salt water, as well as with products or chemicals that could discolor or stain it; perspiration and skin pH, perfumes, lotions, creams and all kinds of cosmetics can affect the appearance of your jewellery.
Do not wear your jewellery while washing your hands, showering, swimming in a pool or the sea, sleeping, or playing sports.
Handle it gently and carefully.
Avoid repeated rubbing which could cause scratches or deformations.
Natural pearls and precious or semi-precious stones can scratch or be damaged if they come into contact with each other. Store your jewellery separately, ideally in its original pouch or box; these are specially designed to protect your jewellery and are treated with a process that limits oxidation.

Natural pearls are alive.
Given their precious nature, particular care must be taken to maintain them.
Apply perfume or lotions before wearing them.
After each use, wipe them with a soft, dry cloth to remove as much residue as possible. Then store them in a protected place; as explained earlier, their original box is ideal.
Why do we speak of a "living pearl"?
Technical note: the Tahitian pearl is not a living organism in the strict biological sense (it has no active metabolism once formed). However, it is described as "living" in traditional jewellery vocabulary because its organic matter remains reactive: it evolves with its environment, it is nourished by contact with the skin, which rehydrates its matrix, and it can permanently lose its lustre if not worn and cared for. Jewellers even speak of a "dead" pearl when its lustre has faded irreversibly.
This terminology is established by Tahitian pearl farmers, by the great international jewellery houses (Mikimoto, Tasaki, Wan Pearls), and recognised by the reference bodies GIA (Gemological Institute of America) and CIBJO (World Jewellery Confederation), which classify pearls as organic gems as opposed to mineral gems.
Silver naturally oxidizes over time.
which can darken the jewellery without altering its quality.
Clean it regularly with a special silver product: soft cloth + product or impregnated wipe.
These tips are not a substitute for regular inspection and cleaning by a professional.
