Refund policy
Last updated: 10 June 2026
1. Right of withdrawal
In accordance with Decree-Law No. 24/2014 (Directive 2011/83/EU), you have 14 calendar days from receipt of the last item in your order to exercise your right of withdrawal, without having to provide a reason. If this period expires on a Saturday, Sunday or public holiday, it is extended to the next working day.
2. Procedure
Please notify us of your decision by means of an unambiguous statement, either by email to atelier@honu-bijoux.com or by post to the returns address below. You may use our withdrawal form.
3. Return conditions
Items must be returned unworn, in perfect condition, in their original, undamaged packaging (jewellery box, pouch, Identity and Materials Booklet where applicable) and accompanied by the invoice. The jewellery must be returned via a tracked and insured post service covering its full purchase value. The return is entirely the customer’s responsibility: in the absence of proof of tracked postage and declared-value insurance, no refund can be claimed in the event of loss, theft or damage during transit. The costs of return postage and declared-value insurance are the customer’s responsibility.
Return address: Honu Handmade Jewellery, Isabelle Bénatouil, Rua Virgínia Quaresma 29, 2925-040 Azeitão, Portugal.
4. Exceptions to the right of withdrawal
In accordance with Article 17 of Decree-Law No. 24/2014, the following are excluded:
- personalised, engraved or made-to-order and/or bespoke jewellery;
- earrings whose sealed packaging has been opened after delivery (for hygiene reasons);
- Sets containing earrings sold as a single, indivisible item, where the sealed packaging has been opened;
- jewellery where the stated weight differs slightly upon receipt; scales and their tare weight may vary from one to another. As the scales used by the brand are approved and certified, this cannot be considered a defect.
- jewellery where the colour of the gemstone stated is not exactly the same as that received. As variations in colour and lustre are caused by individual perception due to ambient light and lighting conditions, this cannot be considered a defect.
- Gift vouchers.
5. Order Cancellation
Any order may be cancelled free of charge provided it has not yet been dispatched: please contact us by email as soon as possible. Once an order has been dispatched, cancellation is no longer possible. Personalised orders cannot be cancelled once production has begun.
6. Order errors or damage in transit
Every piece of jewellery is checked before dispatch. In the event of an order error, a damaged parcel or an item that does not match your order, please contact us by email within 3 days of receipt, including photographs. Depending on the circumstances, we will offer a repair, an exchange or a full refund, including return postage costs. This reporting deadline does not affect the statutory guarantee of conformity (3 years), which covers manufacturing defects and remains applicable beyond this period (see our General Terms and Conditions of Sale).
7. Refunds
We will refund the full amount paid (original price and delivery charges) within a maximum of 14 days from the date we receive notification of your withdrawal. The refund may be deferred until we have received the items or proof of their dispatch, whichever is earlier. The refund will be made via the same payment method used for the purchase. You may be held liable for any depreciation in the value of the goods resulting from handling that goes beyond what is necessary to establish their nature and characteristics.
