My Universe
Where every creation is more than a jewel, it's a DNA.
Welcome to the universe of Isabelle B., self-taught artisan jeweller, granddaughter of a foundry worker and daughter of an apprentice jeweller.
Portrait.
Isabelle Bénatouil,
Artist Jeweller
It was in 2023, at a moment in my life when I needed to transform my daily existence into something beautiful, that I began jewellery-making as a self-taught artist. At first it was simply an outlet — a manual activity that offered my mind a space to escape.
Working with metal taught me patience, precision and freedom. For me it is a "space-time" that holds its own place entirely, and which I call slow luxury: taking the time to create.
DNA.
My brand, my essence
Granddaughter of a metal founder and daughter of an apprentice jeweller, a passion for metal and its gradual transformation has always been part of who I am. Both gone far too soon, neither of these two men ever had the chance to show me or teach me their craft. So I learned on my own, and late in life.
I chose to turn my creative outlet into a profession and become an Artist Jeweller.
CRAFTSMANSHIP.
The hand, the fire and the passion
Each piece is born at the artisan's bench. I hand-forge, hand-sculpt, hand-shape, and polish manually. My first sketch was a sea turtle. Since then, each creation is the fruit of a patient gesture and creative freedom.
When I look back at photos of my very first pieces, I realise how far I've come. No doubt a story of genes, of a DNA received from my father and my grandfather. The work of metal resonates within me.
VALUES.
100% handcrafted: all my creations are forged entirely by hand, without casting. 100% responsible: no intermediary between you and me, in compliance with European standards. 100% traceable: each piece comes with complete information on the origin of the materials I work with.
PROMISE.
Unique pieces, without casting.
Creating a piece of jewellery is bringing to life an object imbued with meaning, material, time and intention. Every piece is worked with an absolute respect for the metal.
When a design is loved and ordered again, it is revisited in its essence, but never copied. The gestures remain the same, yet the details shift — through a curve that is slightly softer, or a pearl of a different hue.
DESIGNS.
Eclectic and Unconventional
My slightly iconoclastic nature means I have no fixed style.
I follow my instinct, my desire, and my freedom to create.
MATERIALS.
Noble and natural
I work with carefully selected materials, chosen for their quality, integrity and durability. Solid silver 950, a precious and noble metal, is the one I work with most, alongside natural materials such as pearls, mother-of-pearl, coral and gemstones.
OFFCUTS.
Nothing is lost, everything is transformed
Silver offcuts, precious residues from metalwork, are carefully collected then melted down to be reintegrated into my creative cycle. Cutting fragments, sawing scraps, uncompleted projects: at Honu, nothing is lost.
It was during one of these processes that a creative accident occurred, and thus the entire Collection Brut was born.
COMMITMENT.
Ethical and sustainable
I select my suppliers and partners for their ethical standards and their commitment to biodiversity preservation. The metals I work with are RJC certified. My packaging and wrapping are FSC® certified and made from recycled materials. For every order I place, a tree is planted.
