Honu x Renatura Congo Partnership
Renatura Congo
Renatura Congo is a non-profit organisation (French Law of July 1st 1901), active since 2005 on the coasts of Pointe-Noire, Republic of Congo. In 2025, the organisation celebrated twenty years of commitment.
Its missions: Protection of biodiversity and the marine ecosystem, surveillance of nesting beaches, fighting poaching, providing fishing equipment, raising awareness among local communities and environmental education.
Behind these missions is a remarkable team. Dozens of field agents are trained and deployed across nearly 200 km of the Congolese coastline. Committed women and men who patrol the beaches day and night, protecting nests and raising awareness in coastal villages. Demanding field work, conducted with conviction for two decades already.
Renatura Congo has released more than 18,500 turtles since 2005, including 734 in the last two years, and protects 2,500 turtles and nests every year.

Why this partnership?
Honu means "turtle" in Polynesian.
This animal embodies what I love and what I defend: longevity, wisdom, resilience, perseverance, but also the unbreakable bond with the ocean.
This is why I chose it as the symbol for my brand.
The link between Renatura Congo's work and my brand's symbolism became obvious: on the other side of the world, women and men protect every day what Honu represents.
I wanted this symbol to have a real, concrete and measurable impact. This partnership is therefore my way of participating in their actions and giving real power to each of my jewels.
A rigorous framework
This partnership is governed by a clear contract, drafted with care: precise donation mechanism, regular public transparency, cross-validation of communication between both parties.
No greenwashing, no display without proof, no vague promises.
It is a decision that commits Honu for the long term and is part of the brand's very DNA.
One Jewel, One Commitment
At Honu, each jewel sold contributes directly to the protection of sea turtles in Congo.
| Your purchase | What Honu donates | |
|---|---|---|
| A jewel from our collections (Brut, Lagon, Joséphine B.) | 1% of the pre-tax sale price donated to Renatura Congo | |
| A jewel from the Kalunga Capsule | 5% of the pre-tax sale price donated to Renatura Congo |
These donations involve no additional cost for you. The price of your jewel remains identical. It is Honu that commits; it is solely your choice that makes this commitment possible.
The Kalunga Capsule, coming soon
The Kalunga Capsule is a jewellery collection dedicated to the Honu x Renatura partnership. Inspired by sea turtles and their world, they are created in the tradition of Slow Luxury. Each piece is unique.
For every jewel from the Kalunga Capsule sold, 5% is donated to Renatura Congo, directly allocated to the protection of sea turtles and their nesting beaches.
The jewels of the Kalunga Capsule are currently being created in the workshop. The first models will be released online in the coming months.
Where worlds meet
There is a word in the Bakongo language to describe the exact place where the visible meets the invisible, where life touches the hereafter and where the ocean becomes a gateway.
That word is Kalunga.
In Kongo cosmology, Kalunga is the sacred line that separates the world of the living from the world of the ancestors. The ocean is its widest manifestation, charged with memory and movement. Water spirits, the Bisimbi, guide souls from one world to another there. Each wave carries a memory and each current connects what we see to what we feel.
On the coasts of Congo, where the Atlantic greets the sand, sea turtles come up every year to lay their eggs. They cross thousands of kilometres of ocean then return to where they were born. They cross Kalunga in both directions, carrying within them this eternal cycle of departure and return that the Bakongo have always known.
Honu and Kalunga speak the same language: that of longevity, wisdom and the unbreakable bond between Man and the ocean.
Full transparency
Trust is built through proof, so each year, I publish here:
- The total amount donated by Honu to Renatura Congo (additional donations included)
- The actions that have been funded by Renatura
First report to come at the end of the first year of the partnership.
Thank you to Nathalie Mianseko and the entire Renatura Congo team for their trust and the exceptional work they accomplish every day for these Precious beings, who must be cared for as much as a Jewel of great Value.
And thank you to you, customers, friends, ocean lovers, who make this approach possible. Each Honu jewel you wear today becomes a link in a larger chain, that of the preservation of life.
Isabelle B.
More than a Jewel, a DNA.
