Article: How to determine your ring size?

How to determine your ring size?
To measure your ring size remotely, wrap a paper strip around your finger, mark the meeting point, and measure the length in millimeters. Divide by 3.14 for the inner diameter. Measure at end of day, when fingers are slightly wider. A virtual ring sizer confirms the size.
How to Find the Right Ring Size in 2026?
Are you looking to measure your finger size for a ring? Whether you're treating yourself to a handcrafted piece or choosing the perfect gift, knowing your ring size is essential.
A well-fitting ring should stay in place without being too tight, while still sliding easily over your knuckle. If it's too tight, it will be uncomfortable. If it's too loose, it may slip off and get lost.
Here is a size chart, a free printable tool, and three tips to help you determine your finger size.

Isabelle's tip: At Honu, each ring is a unique, handcrafted piece. If the model you like is not available in your size, I can create a custom piece for you. The only exceptions are the pieces in the Brut. Collection, which are the result of creative accidents that cannot be reproduced.
Free Printable Measuring Tool
I have created this exclusive finger measurement tool to help you identify your size accurately, right in your own home.
How to use the tool
1. Download and print the tool
Important: Be sure to print in 100% mode (actual size) so that the scale is accurate.
2. Follow the instructions on the tool
Place a ring you already wear on the circles of the tool to identify the corresponding diameter. If you are unsure between two sizes, choose the larger one.
3. Check the chart
Compare the diameter obtained with the size chart to find your European and international size.
3 Methods for Measuring Your Finger Size
Method 1: With a tape measure or strip of paper
Wrap a flexible tape measure (or the strip provided on the printable tool) around your finger. Mark where the ends meet. Measure the length and refer to the chart.
Method 2: With an existing ring
Place a ring you already wear (on the same finger!) on the printable tool. Identify the circle corresponding to the inner diameter.
Method 3: At a jewellery store
A jeweler has a professional ring sizer. If you prefer an ultra-precise measurement, this is the most reliable method.
The Ideal Time to Measure Your Finger
The size of your fingers varies throughout the day:
- In the morning or in cold weather: fingers are thinner
- During the day or in warm weather: slightly swollen fingers
The best time? At the end of the day, when your hand is at its most natural size. For greater accuracy, take the measurement several times.
If your knuckle is wider than the base of your finger, measure both and choose an intermediate size.
My Ring Is Too Big or Too Small: What Should I Do?
Ring too big
Three solutions:
- Ring adjuster: invisible ring that reduces the inner diameter
- Modification by a jeweler: size reduction by a professional
- Custom design: at Honu, I can create your model in the right size
Ring too small
A solid silver ring can be enlarged by a professional jeweler, within certain limits. For Honu creations, contact me: depending on the model, an adjustment may be possible.
Giving a Ring as a Secret Gift: The Trick
Want to keep it a surprise? Discreetly borrow a ring that has already been worn on the finger in question and measure it with the printable tool.
If the model you have chosen does not match the size, contact me for a custom-made creation.
